They say when travelling to
watch your back, well they where so right today. I was quad biking around a
mountain in knysna along the "garden route" on the South East coast of
Africa
. About 400k above
cape town
when watching my back took on a whole new meaning!! We where having such a
laugh. A young honeymoon couple and myself where chasing the guide round this
mountain and really getting a move on, the other couple where a lot slower and
the girl was a bit frightened so the guide took her on further upfront. We all
had to hang back from time to time so we could get some speed up, enabling us to
hammer round the sandy burns. Anyway the slower slightly nervous man was lagging
well behind everyone and every time his girlfriend (who was still in front with
the guide) stopped or had a mishap!! We would again stop and wait for her to get
a good distance in front again. We had stopped just round a bend and on a
downhill section when the slower guy behind, had, unbeknown to us got all
confident and fast!! I was uneasy at having to stop on a downhill bend so I was
looking behind to see him arrive. He came round that bend really really fast and
the look on his face when he spotted us at a standstill was something to see. He
locked the quad up, hit a bank and left the bike to visit the forest head
first!! Meanwhile his bike still airborne flipped up and landed on top of my
bike!! But by then I was a long way down the track running from the rapidly
approaching underside of his quad. Like I say.... always watch your back ;-) we
had such a laugh though and no harm was done. From then on every time he caught
up I would be standing next to my bike ready to run (made him laugh) Brilliant
just brilliant
