A treetop tour of the wine route.

Most of this story is already written in the fetch a tree page, but written from a different angle ;-)
What really happened is that the Jeep lost all its water for some reason and overheated in a little town called Ceres in the Western Cape. Blowing the top gasket and ending up costing Dewald 25,000 rand (2,500 quid) and losing the truck for a week or two and having to hire a car!! The only good side to the episode was we got to ride in the Jeep on the back of the tow truck!! Giving us a tree top tour of the wine route. Yes a bit scary at first wobbling about on the back of the trailer but after a short while it was fun and we had an excellent view of the vineyards and the mountains behind. Strange looking farm vehicles made for picking the grapes and small tractors loaded with fresh grapes passed beneath us. We stayed that night near a beautiful little town called Worcester nestled under the mountains with more than its fair share of yummy young ladies!! Alas I have far to travel and knowing I would only break one of these fair maidens hearts I kept myself to myself and carried on eating my garlic mussels!! ;-)
The next day we headed back to Great Brak river all the time Dewald planning how he would get his "Quiver" tree back home. The new plan was to take his daughters Toyota back up and retrieve the trailer from Worcester and carry on and get the plant. Now the fact that the Toyota was quite old and had no air-con had nothing to do with my deciding to stay a few days in Mossel bay and await their return (honest) I waved bye bye and booked myself into my second backpacker hostel. A tiny room on the main street with just a small light and even I could touch the walls all around without moving!! So it was a great relief when they called and said they had decided to not fetch the tree until the Jeep was ready. And would I like them to pick me up...Ya Think!!! Brilliant!! And yet again I had been saved from a scummy backpacker place...18 quid a night for a tiny tiny room!!! I guess I am to erm shall we say mature for backpacker places, well if I have a choice anyway. Thank Dewald and Irma
