Another Kak day in Africa!!

Well that’s the saying over here! And I am sure you can work out what that word means! Its such a beautiful country and to wake up to the sunshine go for a swim eat some fruit and breathe in some clean air is a bit special for sure. I am sure there are lots of other places in the world that share this climate, but whether the people are so nice I don’t know (yet!) The weather certainly makes a difference to the way you feel and your attitude to life and as they say "Africa has a different rhythm" I have been very fortunate to meet some really nice people all over South Africa. They have all been more than hospitable to me and made me feel so welcome. It has also given me a unique insite into African life living as part of some families over here. It couldn’t have worked better because I make a lousy backpacker!! I have booked into two backpacker hostels so far in the last 4 months and booked out again before the day was out. It will be interesting to see what happens in OZ for sure. Saying that Australia is better set up for backpacking I believe, but I am also of the opinion that I am to ....shall I say mature!! And yes too spoilt to stay at hostels ;-) On the other hand SA has some fantastic guest house and hotels at very reasonable prices. A good example of a Kak day in Africa was two days ago. I woke up to an empty house as Seun and Jackie had gone to work and the children start school over here at 7.30. So I made some tea, wandered out into the brilliant sunshine (mid 30's) had a swim, played my guitar and made myself some bolied eggs with soliders. Much to the amusement of their maid, who later told Jackie " the boss made some strange food today" bless her. Its quite funny she dances and whistles as she walks past when I am playing the guitar and marvels at my pocket PC with my new bluetooth keyboard. Totally different culture over here and being called a boss takes some getting used to, but I must admit I don’t really like it. Then after my nice intro to the day I spent the day in the house decorating one of the bedrooms listening to the local radio, least I can do for putting up with me for two weeks ;-) Its Sunday now and its raining but its still warm and everybody welcomes the rain over here, they need it!
