"Possum park" and a whirlwind tour
Or "Pursom Purk" as the cruzy gurls would say!!
I just had another really cool day :-) I decided to give myself a
whirlwind tour of Melbourne as I need to get moving after the World Super Bikes
this weekend here on the Island. I rode into the city late morning and purked
(enough now!!) the bike on the sidewalk next to lot of pushbikes and scooters. I
locked my gear to the bike and turned around to see the tourist information
place right behind me :-) Turns out I had accidentally parked the bike in the
perfect central place! From there I took a scenic boat ride along the river
followed by a walk through the city centre. I marched into a few art galleries
located in the awesome "Federation square" and passed judgment on various pieces
of art ;-) I hope it helps them improve!! I didn’t know they had art here down
under!! Then a trip on the famous trams around the city taking in sights like
parliament and parks and docklands. Whilst sight seeing I noticed a huge
building towering above the city, turns out it had a viewing level 55 floors up.
So up I went to watch the sun set over Melbourne, nice. By the time I had
watched the film that runs there on the city and had spotted Fanny waiting
patiently below it was 7.00pm. I was due to go to dinner at Debs and Madeleine's
two very nice, but completely crazy!! local girls, (one who I met last weekend)
at 7.30pm!! Still I new the rough direction and it was only a ten minute walk
back to the bike!! Believe it or not twenty minutes later I was parking the bike
outside their house!! We had the best Kangaroo steaks I have ever had (ok so
they where the first) but yummy (Sorry Skippy) After that I was very
privileged to be taken on a guided tour of the local parks Possum spotting. They
don’t have squirrels over here and the Possums are their equivalent I guess. So
cute and pretty tame too, click here to see pics. So
that’s that Melbourne is done and after the Super bikes this weekend its off to
Adelaide via the "Great Ocean Road" Australia keeps getting better :-) bring it
on!!
