My first tip is one most of you know but I do feel it's worth writing down so at least you can refer to it in case you are tempted!!
Don't eat Yellow snow!!!!!

Below are some tips that I hope you find useful and will stop you making the same silly mistake I make time and time and time again!!!

For proper in depth travel tips follow this link to Roger and Beck's website. There you will find a comprehensive and rather long! description of what needs thinking about and what's a must when planning a trip. Excellent advise from a seasoned traveller.

First time I am in a new country with different currency I make my self up list on the back of a business card in my wallet. In Thailand it was my Baht card, I just write what 1 pound and 2 pound and 5 and 10 etc is in Baht. That way when I get cash out of ny wallet I can glance at the card to see how much I am spending. It saves looking all confused and tourist like, especially handy in dodgy area's!

Phone the Airport or go on line to check your flights are not delayed! I have spent a long time in airports waiting for delayed flights when I could have been chillin by the pool! One phone call saves all that walking around duty free and rubbish shops for hours on end!

If threatened by other holiday makers or hostile locals make yourself look big!! Just like a cat would do, turning sideways. Hissing also helps!! Either that or smile like I do :-)

Keep your eyes open and see potential problems before they become a problem! The same as driving, you can avoid an accident if you have spotted the problem way back down the road!!
A good one for South Africa is to head of to a chemist and buy yourself a tin of "Zambuk" its awesome for mossie bites and cracked lips and almost anything! I use a tin a year but hey the mossies LOVE me!!

More little Jems to follow ;-) |
